Why You Should Be High Maintenance

Okay, I’ll admit it—I’ve been completely obsessed with beauty products lately. Like, it's borderline unhealthy. I’ve been stuck in a beauty rut, desperately trying to get back to my radiant self, but with life throwing me curveballs, it’s been so hard to carve out time for me. Sound familiar? The hustle and bustle makes it way too easy to neglect those little moments of self-care. But here's the thing—I’ve always believed that taking time for yourself isn’t just a luxury, it’s a must. It’s sacred. It’s self-love in action.

Sure, some might say beauty routines are superficial, but honestly? If it makes you feel good, if it boosts your confidence, then that’s all that matters. The image I put out into the world means something to me. Growing up shy, fashion and makeup were my secret weapons to express my true self. They helped me blossom into the bold, vibrant woman I am today. Now, I’m unapologetic about who I am and how I choose to present myself. Taking that time to pamper myself, to create an image that reflects the love I have for who I am, makes me happy—and that’s something I will never apologize for. So here's how I practice self-love, darling:

LISTEN

In a world that’s constantly go-go-go, it’s so easy to lose touch with yourself. Have you been feeling drained? Sleep-deprived? Going through the motions? Maybe your eating habits aren’t exactly on point. We’ve all been there—pushing ourselves too hard, ignoring the signals our bodies send, and then—bam—burnout hits. But the truth is, when you listen to your body, it’s telling you exactly what it needs. So, slow down and really hear it.

PAMPER

Take time to indulge in what makes you feel cared for. Whether that’s threading your brows, experimenting with a new makeup look, or making small but significant changes to your diet, pampering yourself is a form of self-respect. When you love your body, trust me, it will love you back. And that feeling? Well, it’s everything.

REFLECT

Reflection is crucial. It helps you see your growth and your potential. When was the last time you asked yourself, “What do I truly want out of life?” And no, not what social media or your friends are telling you, but what would truly make youhappy? I’ve fallen into that trap before, too—letting the noise around me dictate what I thought I should want. My goals grew bigger and bigger, until they didn’t even feel like mine anymore. Here’s the thing: we’re all on different journeys, and that’s okay. Don’t let anyone else's version of success cloud your own vision. Define success on your terms.

Remember, self-love isn’t selfish—it’s necessary. Treat yourself like the queen you are. ❤️
